Sweetwater is the County seat of Nolan County. Nolan County is the Wind Energy Capital with some 500 giant wind turbines atop Trent Mesa. You can get a close look from State Highway 70. Sweetwater is also home to the National Wasp WWII Museum, Texas State Technical College, the Pioneer Museum, the Historic Municipal Auditorium, and the Nolan County Coliseum. There are some great museums and parks to check out and enjoy.

The Nolan County Coliseum is a multiuse complex that hosts a variety of events. They host livestock events, equine, and the world's largest rattlesnake roundup.
The Pioneer Museum is a historic house and a museum. This house was built in 1906 and is decorated in a style of the period of the Ragland family's residency.
